At Restoring Wellness, we believe in the power of individual therapy to transform lives. Services start at $150 for a 50 minute session.
Psychological assessments can be anxiety-provoking; however, we hope the following information answers your questions and lets you know what to expect when arriving for your first testing session.
Dr. Graves and Dr. Hanke are Licensed Clinical Psychologists who conduct psychological assessments to help further explore an individual’s strengths and challenges in their cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning. We offer psychological testing for individuals of all ages.
Psychological testing can often help clarify diagnoses, inform treatment planning/recommendations, facilitate school accommodations, and assist with further medical treatment under the guidance of your medical provider. There are many different types of assessments, ranging from emotional, cognitive, academic, and neuropsychological. We tailor each assessment to meet the individual needs of our patients; therefore, after our initial session, Dr. Graves and Dr. Cinquegrani determine which assessments will be utilized.
Initially, a 50-minute clinical interview will be conducted with one of our Licensed Clinical Psychologists. If the assessment is for a child under the age of 18, the initial clinical interview will provide an opportunity for parents to meet with either Dr. Graves or Dr. Cinquegrani to discuss the reasons for the assessment, concerns, and important background information.
After the initial clinical interview, there will be one to two testing appointments. These appointments typically last 3 hours, and are scheduled in the morning and/or the early afternoon to ensure we obtain the highest level of performance from the patient. During each of these testing sessions, various empirically based and standardized tests will be utilized. Different activities, ranging from designing blocks to answering true-false questions and drawing, can be used. Sometimes these 3 hours can be long, so breaks will be offered, and patients are welcome to bring snacks with them if needed.
*Previous evaluations, medical records, and a child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan can be reviewed with your consent. Documents such as previous evaluations and school accommodations are beneficial to bring during your initial clinical interview.
A few weeks after the final testing session, a feedback session will be conducted. During this time, our Licensed Clinical Psychologist will go over the psychological assessment results and recommendations. With your written consent, we can provide a copy of the final written report to your therapist or medical provider.
Most insurances cover psychological assessments, and we are happy to work with you to help determine your insurance coverage. The total cost of psychological testing includes the initial assessment, testing administration sessions, scoring, interpreting, and report writing.
