Tarrah Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Tarrah earned her Master of Social Work from Aurora University and her undergraduate degree in Family Studies from Central Michigan University. Tarrah has experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults. She carries expertise with youth facing a variety of obstacles in the areas of trauma, anxiety, depression, peer and family relationships, behavioral struggles, school avoidance, emotional regulation, and social skills.
Tarrah considers the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for treatment. Working from a strengths-based perspective, she strives to provide both individuals and families with skills to overcome life’s difficult hurdles through support and assistance. She aims to help clients work through thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences, and as a guide to identify and establish life-changing goals. Tarrah holds active certifications in CPR Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and AMSR Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk. She provides Trauma-informed Care, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Tarrah uses an honest, gentle, and non-judgmental approach with an emphasis on strategies that are most accessible and practical for clients and families.
Prior to working at Restoring Wellness, Tarrah has spent the last six years as a Crisis Worker for the DuPage County Health Department, assisting individuals and families experiencing both life-threatening and mental health crises. As a Middle School Social Worker, Tarrah has strived to advocate for both special education and general education students through crisis intervention and facilitating individual and group sessions with an emphasis on social skills, emotional regulation, and individual goals. She believes that there is nothing more important than developing resilience in children and adolescents by strengthening their self-awareness, self-management, decision-making, and social interaction skills.
