Dr. Allison Elber-White earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology (Ph.D.) from the University of Massachusetts Boston, after completing her Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Denver. Dr. Elber-White specializes in working with older adolescents, pre-teens, college-aged, and adult populations experiencing various mental health concerns including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and disordered eating.
Dr. Elber-White emphasizes creating an authentic and genuine relationship where individual differences are valued while paying close attention to the impact that societal, cultural, and family factors may have. She incorporates a variety of evidence-based treatments, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness interventions, and solution-focused strategies based on client needs and the systems they are a part of. Dr. Elber-White also has experience conducting a range of psychological assessments, which aids in better understanding current concerns and diagnoses.
Dr. Elber-White has specific training in the field of sport psychology and has worked with a broad range of athletes from elementary school-aged to Division I collegiate students. Interventions focus on increasing coping skills to better manage stress and anxiety, increase confidence and motivation, and fine-tune focus. She also has robust experience working with injured athletes both returning to play or retiring from sport. Sport psychology can be translated more broadly to other performance fields such as academics, performing arts, or high-risk occupations, and utilizes a strengths-based approach that can be empowering for clients from any background.
