
Elizabeth “Beth” Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Art Therapist, and has worked in the field for over 10 years. Beth completed her Master of Science degree in Art Therapy with a concentration in Counseling from Mount Mary University.
Beth’s creativity, warmth and non-judgmental nature creates a safe and secure space to help children and adults work through complex life issues.
Before joining Restoring Wellness Clinical Services, Beth worked within hospitals and nonprofit settings with individuals through the lifespan. She is passionate about working with individual clients, families and caregivers affected by medical diagnoses. She also had the honor of creating and supervising Medical Art Therapy programs that have taken place in 50 cities across the United States. Through this experience she has treated a variety of mental health conditions and developed unique treatment plans, incorporating art therapy into her work with clients when possible.
Her specialties include medical illness, grief and bereavement, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and self-esteem. Beth utilizes a holistic, client-centered and strength-based approach that involves techniques such as Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness-based modalities. Through these techniques and the therapeutic relationship, Beth collaborates with her clients to better understand their past and present experiences and to set goals that will positively affect their future.
