Dr. Melissa Heinemann, PsyD (she/her) earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from DePaul University and her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in both Illinois and Wisconsin and is also a registered Health Service Psychologist. Dr. Heinemann completed an APA accredited internship at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Counseling Center and her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point.
Most recently, Dr. Heinemann worked for the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison, WI providing individual psychotherapy for adolescents through adults with a broad range of mental health concerns. While trained as a generalist in all areas of mental health, Dr. Heinemann has extensive experience working with gender and sexual identity development, college student mental health, and mood and anxiety disorders. She provides evidenced-based treatments for adolescents through adults and a wide-range of psychological and neuropsychological assessments through the lifespan. By gaining insight into problematic patterns, learning mindfulness-based skills, and building self-compassion, Dr. Heinemann strives to help each client reach their own unique goals. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Heinemann teaches medical and mental health professionals about equitable healthcare for people in the LGBTQIA+ community.
